'Whatzupwitu', Eddie Murphy?

I really love this song with its summery, feel-good, mellow New Jack beats. Michael's voice is truly sublime with its typical boyishness and Eddie Murphy just makes it all the more fun.

If one were to have an astute eye, this video is worth its weight in gold...

Did you notice the curious body language Eddie Murphy displayed toward Michael, who looked absolutely lovely with his flowing black hair, beautifully arched eyebrows, and smoky eyeliner?

I mean, he looks like a beautiful half-asian, half-white woman!

Yes, I am sure you understand where I'm going with this...

In 1997, Eddie Murphy was arrested when he offered a 'ride' (no pun intended) to a transvestite prostitute, insisting he was merely being a 'good Samaritan'. He even tried to sue my favorite tabloid, the National Enquirer, when they published an article about his sexual proclivities towards transvestite hookers! Of course, he later dropped the suit.

Now, I had heard about this before but I didn't think anything of it. I saw this video and just shrugged it off, giggling at the notion of a mysterious sexual tension between Eddie and Michael. I gave Eddie the benefit of the doubt.

It didn't occur to me until recently while I was watching one of the videos of Brother Del Jones' lectures (available here, here, and here) that it all came full circle.

Brother Jones called Eddie out for being gay before he had ever been arrested for picking up the prostitute. He said this during one of his speaking engagements and one woman in the audience thought he had went too far. She stormed out of the room in a huff, he said.

So, in this videotaped lecture (like I said, it is available here on the blog), Brother Jones has an audience member who professes to have a cousin (a male) Eddie Murphy used to pick up and take out. She also, rather adamantly, charges that Eddie has a 'thing' for Puerto Rican transexual prostitutes.

Of course, the anecdotes of we commoners are usually cast off as silliness and delusional, and rightly so. Really, I rarely believe laypeople when it comes to celebrity-related matters because we all want to be famous, no matter what.

But when I think of this video, it just...stuck.

The first time I ever saw it (around early November 2009), I just had this feeling that something was peculiar.

Again, check the body language between Michael and Eddie.

If he does have strange proclivities towards transexuals, it would certainly explain the weird interactions and violations of Michael's personal space.

Eddie whispers in Michael's ear (curiously, Michael has a bashful, girlish smile on his lips; better for Eddie, no doubt); he flirtatiously play fights with him; he sings to him.

The video has Eddie clasping his hand over Michael's delicate mouth before it fades to black. I thought to myself, Well what's going to happen to Michael after that final scene? What is Eddie going to do to him?

My sister jokingly referred to it as a 'snuff' film. LOL.

With this video, Brother Del Jones, and the transvestite-hookup-that-could-have-been, I'm beginning to think Eddie Murphy may just as well be bisexual (or, 'AC/DC', as I like to say).

Is that not the modus operandi of many Hollywood celebrities?

Oh, and Michael looked pretty gay himself. I think he may have liked the attention, too.

Besides, Eddie does kind of hold himself in that oh-so-stereotypical 'way'; his clothes seem to be quite body-hugging; and he plays very realistic women.

'Whatzupwitu' is just evidence in a pretty slam dunk case of outing Eddie.

The 'so, what's going to happen?' cliffhanger at the close of the video really tempts your Humble Narrator into writing an erotic fanfic detailing just what went down between masculine Eddie and gentle Michael when that screen began to dim...

...or, maybe not.
